Abu Dhabi Good Deeds going the extra mile GEM

The UAE is celebrating the year of giving. They have celebrated everyone that has done good deeds in their community. Abu Dhabi even has an awards ceremony.

The Abu Dhabi awards celebrate members of the community who have made a difference to the lives of people and made a positive contribution. The nomination period ran from April 16 to June 3 this year and results will be announced in early 2018.

The awards are the emirate’s highest civilian honour. Nominees include Abu Dhabi citizens, residents and non-residents as well as those who live overseas, as long as they have contributed to the development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Their motto is ‘Goodness knows no limits’.

The award recipients are selected based on their deeds and actions, not by the number of nominations received.

Since its inauguration in 2005, 71 recipients were honoured with an Abu Dhabi Award in eight nomination campaigns.

Good deeds are easy to do every day and that is the point of the awards, to share the stories of others and prove that it is easy to do. Good deeds are like smiles, you just have to do one and it can touch the lives of many more people.
