Jacob Tshabala and his family were supported over the decades, throughout his wife’s illness and, like many others, felt secure in knowing Bonitas would be there to assist with any medical emergencies.
South Africa (30 August 2022) – Accessing good healthcare is essential to raising a happy and healthy family. For the Ngobese and Tshabala families, it has been a priority in caring for their loved ones. The support has meant everything to them!
Decades of support that is what families remember when looking back over the years of being with the Bonitas Medical Fund.
Bonitas Medical Fund started out in the early 80s as a medical aid for black civil servants. Since then, the company’s focus on innovation and agility has grown into an open medical scheme emphasising inclusivity and accessibility for all South Africans.
Jacob Tshabala signed up with Bonitas when he first started working a few decades ago. At that time, medical aid was a relatively new concept, but he decided to try it. A few years later, his wife became ill and was later diagnosed with bipolar. She would need chronic medication for the rest of her life. Jacob saw, then, just how supportive his medical scheme really was. It was this support that has kept the couple with Bonitas over the years and going into their retirement.
Mom of two, Busisiwe Ngobese, has a similar fondness for the medical scheme. She recounts her memory of a childhood allergy that resulted in her being rushed to the hospital. She remembers the fear vividly, but also how safe and secure she felt knowing that she was in the right hands; so much so that years later, when her employer offered her a variety of medical schemes to join, Bonitas was the obvious choice for Busi, who now relies on the scheme as the only choice regarding her family’s health needs.
Families feel a peace of mind knowing they can rely on the support when the time comes.
