car guard

Selestino Chiko Munyaradzi was a car guard 10 years ago but has worked his way up to training as an estate agent… this is his story!

Durban, KwaZulu-Natal – Selestino Chiko Munyaradzi, also known as Selly, is celebrating his 10th year with the real estate company, Tyson in Durban. 10 years ago he was a car guard in the parking lot outside of the real estate company. He watched all the cars that would park on the street.

He befriended the team there and slowly worked his way into becoming a gardener for the office grounds. He proved to be a dependable employee and started taking on bigger tasks such as odd jobs, car washing and running errands for the team.

“Starting out as the car guard for the street parking, Selly soon proved his worth and was moved to the position of “gardener” for the office grounds. He then started doing odd jobs here and there such as car washing for the agents and running errands and his potential became impossible to ignore.”

The team could see he was determined to rise and gave him a job in the office to do stock takes and so on. They wanted to see him grow and promoted him to head of distribution and ordering of stock.

“But our Selly is driven and determined and soon progressed to became a member of the admin team and the official “office go-to guy” – a position that he currently still holds.”

Along with his current position, he has also been given the opportunity to start working towards becoming an estate agent. He has started intern training and has a mentor who is helping him through all the work related to getting licenced as an agent.

“As proof that hard work really does pay off – today Selestino works as in intern training to become a real estate agent! He arrives to work every morning dressed to kill and sits at his very own desk, and with the help of his mentor agent, recently made his VERY FIRST PROPERTY SALE!”

The Tyson team are so proud of how far Selly has come and cannot wait to see how much further he will go. They shared his story to inspire hope and show that hard work pays off.

“Selly – we are so so proud of you. Your hunger for success is admirable and we feel lucky to have you as part of our family. We will be cheering you on as we watch you grow and blossom as an agent and reach all of your life goals.

Selly told us that his goals for the future are to: ‘be a top agent, purchase his own car and buy a property of his own’. With your track record, we believe these things are well within your reach. Congratulations Selly, and here’s to the next 10 years.”

Thank you for inspiring so many people Selly, your hard work is admirable. The post has been shared far and wide, people are loving how well Selly has done through the company. He shared his thanks to all those who sent him encouraging messages.

“Thank you, everyone, for the good words of encouragement, I really appreciate each and every comment. To me this is more like a story of love and such kind of love is a result of good leadership, the management at Tyson Properties is awesome, every day when I’m leaving home for work, I feel I’m leaving home going home because of the environment at Tyson Properties. Many thanks to the Big Boss Chris Tyson and Kim Woods for everything. I’m sure you all will agree with me that they’re both amazing. Thank you once again and I’m wishing you all the best in everything.”
