With the COVID-19 numbers rising again, these health workers will be able to visit more patients and communities will be able to access healthcare services easier by using their bicycles.
North West, South Africa (20 May 2021) – In the rural North West province of South Africa over 380 health workers received bicycles this year.
Qhubeka is a global charity that moves people forward with bicycles in Africa. People earn bicycles through their programmes, improving their access to schools, clinics and jobs. A bicycle is a tool that helps people to travel faster and further, to generate income and to carry more. In the face of extreme and persistent poverty, bicycles can change lives by helping to address socioeconomic challenges at the most basic level – helping people to get where they need to go.
With the COVID-19 numbers rising again, these health workers will be able to visit more patients and communities will be able to access healthcare services easier by using their bicycles.
“This bicycle is going to make a huge difference in our lives. The village here is wide and there is a lot of spaces in between. It will make life simpler and easier for us when it comes to travelling.” – Innocent from Pella Clinic
“I travel long distances so this bicycle is going to help me a lot because I will use it to check on my patients.” – Julia from the Pella Clinic
