Local store surprises shopper with a new way to get her groceries done this Christmas!

A local shopper got a huge suprise, after her local SPAR made a wheelchair trolley to help her mom get her groceries done this Christmas!

Dee Diane Botha Beukes took to Facebook to share the incredible news, after her local SPAR went the extra mile and created a wheelchair friendly shopping trolley to help her mom with her groceries.

“I would love the world to know what a special man Marc Anderson from Richdens SUPERSPAR is. He is their new owner since October this year (something I was unaware of until Friday).”

Beukes has had a continual battle campaigning to get wheelchair friendly trolleys in and around her area to help her mom and other shoppers have an easier time when grocery shopping.

“You only really appreciate the battle wheelchair reliant people have to do their shopping on their own without always having to rely on a shop assistant.

I have approached all 3 of our major stores here in Hillcrest simply ages ago and I keep getting the same old stock answer. “Yes they coming!” Yes so has Christmas guys!!!”

On Friday Beukes decided to ask again at the Richdens SUPERSPAR and was surprised to see she had missed the arrival of a new owner. She went over her whole “practiced speech” once again explaining how difficult it was to shop without wheelchair friendly trolleys. He took her name and number but Beukes didn’t “hold her breath.”

“Can you imagine the shock and surprise I got when he phoned me the next day to ask if we could pop in to test drive his prototype! He had welded and worked on a test subject in one evening!!!”

Beukes posted a pic on her social media showing Marc Anderson, the new owner of Richdens SPAR, explaining his prototype to her Mom.

“Can you believe this man?!?! I want everyone to know what a fabulous guy he is and to support the heck out of his store! Might I add that this man is also in the middle of stock take! A manager who walks the talk hallelujah!!!

PS. We are still tweaking the prototype and shall be going for another ‘fitting’ very soon!”
