Fourways restaurant opens it's doors every year to feed the less fortunate Humble Harrys Humble Harry's

Community celebrates a local favourite in Fourways, who open their doors to feed the less fortunate every year.

Johannesburg, South Africa – Humble Harry’s, a favourite neighbourhood place to meet family and friends in Fourways, has started a beautiful tradition where they open their restaurant to feed the less fortunate every year.

The local favourite does many things for charity through-out the year but their annual breakfast for the less fortunate has become a talking point in the community, especially since hunger and poverty is a continuously rising problem in South Africa.

A report released by Statistics SA has claimed that approximately a third of children in Gauteng and the Free State are stunted as a result of chronic malnutrition.

The report stated that South Africa had one of the highest low birth-weight rates with a 13.3 percent occurrence of live births of babies under 2.5kg nationally. It also showed that 7.4 million people reported experiencing hunger in our country while another measure showed that 12.3 million people reporting inadequate or severely inadequate food access.

Humble Harry’s have openly used their platform to raise awareness around food challenges in South African and help feed the less fortunate every day with food donations but it’s their annual breakfast which fills the restaurant with smiles and makes the community feel incredibly proud.

Paul Economou, the owner of Humble Harry’s, says that he doesn’t do it because he wants the publicity but rather because we all need to be helping each other in South Africa, how ever we can.

The community however love the fact that Economou and his dedicated team continue to help those in need!

Daniela Marais posted: “Wow! What an amazing initiative! Hats off to you Humble Harry’s! Another reason I have to go and support you guys more often!”

Linda Archer Howell stated: “How fabulous! Humble Harry’s is one if our favourite places and we go there once a week – either for breakfast or for dinner. Daniel and staff are amazing.”

Michael Bender added: “I salute you all and this is why I promote Humble Harry’s to everyone within earshot.”

Di Timberlake said: “Well done Humble Harry’s!! You are an example to us all.”

Teniel Kuperus commented: “What a beautiful tradition.”

Humble Harry’s is located at the Leaping Frog Shopping Centre in Fourways – corner William Nicol Drive and Mulbarton Road and also at The Buzz Shopping Centre in Douglasdale on Witkoppen Road.
