Desalination Challenging Drinking Water Outage

An Owl Rescue Centre has put their plans to buy a rescue plane on hold, in order to buy a water tanker to help Capetonians.

The Owl Rescue Centre is a registered Non-profit company and permitted rehabilitation facility concerned with the well-being of all owl species in Southern Africa.

Owl Rescue Centre is dedicated to protect owls, rescue owls that are in danger and rehabilitate and care for owls that have been injured, are sick, poisoned or orphaned and then release them back into their natural environment using specifically researched release methods.

They rehabilitate and release over 250 Spotted Eagle Owls, 150 Barn Owls and 100 other owl species each year. Apart from rescuing and rehabilitating owls, they spend a large sum of their time educating individuals on owls and the harm caused by pesticides.

The Rescue Centre relies heavily on their network of volunteers, members and supporters and the team have made a decision to put their plans to buy a rescue plane on hold, in order to help with the current water situation.

“For our most recent fundraiser we were hoping to make enough to buy a small plane to help with all the far-away rescues. But instead, we will put the airplane purchase on hold and rather get a water tanker.

Now Owls don’t drink a whole bunch of water, but all our supporters in Cape Town do.

Our new water truck will run everyday from our Sanctuary to Cape Town and back delivering delicious sky juice straight from our borehole to whoever needs it for FREE.

No need to worry about the Owl rescues, both our Land Rovers are still running perfectly and once the rains come, we can sell the water- trokkie and get the much needed plane.”

Tickets for the fundraiser which will help buy the water tanker are still available and you can get all the information you need by clicking here (also… you could win a Mustang which is an awesome bonus).
