In an effort to boost the healthcare system in South Africa, Profmed launched a platform to help young doctors find jobs or establish their own practices to serve their communities.
South Africa (08 April 2025) – One would never imagine that there is a massive unemployment statistic within the medical field, and yet, over 1,800 young doctors finished their 6-year education and found themselves vying for a small percentage of available jobs. In South Africa, where we need medical professionals to help ease the burden on the medical system, having available doctors is essential. That’s where Profmed stepped in, creating a platform where doctors could find their place, and it’s working!
When Profmed launched finDR, it was with a clear mission: to deliver a solution that South Africa’s healthcare community desperately needs — a simple, powerful way to connect medical practices with unemployed, passionate young doctors.
In just a few weeks, 725 locum doctors and 30 medical practices have already signed up to join the platform, proving that a system like this is essential to closing the medical gap in South Africa.
In Profmed’s latest video, we meet Dr Toheerah Rahim, who found herself unable to find work as a doctor. She shares her inspiring story of how she reignited her career thanks to finDR and created her own practice that now supports her community. Her experience reflects the heart of finDR’s purpose: to create real opportunities for those qualified to care, but without a place to practice.
finDR is more than just a platform for doctors to find work; it’s Profmed’s commitment to uplifting the medical profession and supporting the future of healthcare in South Africa. It shows they go beyond just being a medical aid, but are actively ensuring accessible medical care for all.
By bridging the gap between supply and demand in the healthcare sector, Profmed is not just solving a pressing challenge — it’s empowering a new generation of healthcare professionals, which is exactly what South Africa needs now.
So if you are a hopeful young doctor, or know one – bookmark finDR. It could change lives!
