Proudly South African has launched a new mascot to remind people to shop locally—meet LoLo Warona.

South Africa (22 June, 2023) — Proudly South African, the local advocacy organisation that keeps us all in the local business loop has introduced a new mascot to remind people that shopping locally makes for a stronger South Africa.

The new mascot’s name is LoLo Warona which is an abbreviated translation of ‘local love’ and ‘ours’. A lot of public input went into choosing the mascot’s name which only amplifies the meaning of warona that much more.

For Proudly SA, LoLo Warona will help keep the concept of buying local fresh in many South African minds, especially young people.

“A mascot can play a crucial role in promoting the Proudly SA brand. LoLo Warona confirms that we all have a responsibility to be the difference we want to see and create a demand for local jobs by creating a demand for local goods,” shared Proudly SA.

“LoLo, who has a distinctly South African flair and feel, and incorporates the colours of the South African flag. Designed in the shape of a swing tag found hanging on many goods, LoLo reminds South Africans to check the tag of their purchases to find out where they were made,” the organisation added.

You can find and support local companies under the Proudly South African tag here.
