A Johannesburg radio station partnered with a Wedding School and just gave away an entire surprise wedding to the value of R350 000.
Every year the SA School Of Weddings raises money to sponsor a wedding for a deserving couple. This year they decided to partner with HOT 91.9fm, a Johannesburg based radio station, to give away a fully inclusive wedding to the value of R350 000!
The SA School of Weddings is the only industry endorsed wedding planning school, founded in 2009 by Khali de Villiers.
De Villiers has organised many successful events throughout the course of her 12 year career as The Wedding Specialist (specialising in Wedding Planning, Flowers and Décor) and has gained an excellent reputation in the wedding industry, together with the respect of other industry leaders. Her love for weddings and passion for creating that perfect day are qualities she naturally passes onto her students.
The school aims to educate future industry professionals in courses such as Advanced Wedding Planning and Styling, Event and Wedding Stationery, Wedding Cake Decorating, Event and Wedding Draping and Flower Arranging and Function Décor.
The students from the school raise money every year as a collective project to give back and make one wedding couple’s dream come true.
And what better way to do it, than with a live on air proposal at Hot 91,9 FM!
Since its launch on the 17th of November 2014, Hot 91.9 FM has managed to propel itself, with lightning speed, straight into the obvious radio gap that existed in Gauteng.
Playing the best ‘Old Skool’ and R&B music, with the most popular radio personalities and Joburg’s Hottest Breakfast Show as well as the most spectacular on-air promotions and off-air presence, it’s been a thrilling journey of change for radio and the station, which is driving innovation and leading change in the industry.
“HOT 91.9 FM is about FUN radio with a cause,” says founder and station managing director, Lloyd Madurai.
“Not answering to a large corporate conglomerate’s vested commercial interests has resulted in our team putting more joy and passion into our on-air offering. We are packed with talent that have been serving the Gauteng market for decades, so although we’re new, our strong roots and local support run very deep,” he says.
So partnering with SA School Of Weddings was an obvious choice.
The team put out a call on air and social media for couples to enter the competition. The only requirements were that they need to be already engaged, or willing to propose in studio on air.
Bruno Ferreira heard the call and immediately decided this was the perfect moment to propose to the love of his life Ornella Anzilotti.
Ferreira explained how after 13 year of knowing Anzilotti, they eventually started dating.
He openly discussed how, over the years, he had formed a drug problem that had escalated to a point where his life was becoming unmanageable and things were falling apart… the difficult situation slowly pushed Anzilotti away as well, eventually causing them to go their separate ways.
Two months after the break up, Ferreira made choice to ‘clean himself up’ in the hopes that he could regain the love and trustful relationship he once had.
He booked himself into a rehab center for an entire year, with no access to outside communication.
As fate would have it, during their time apart, Anzilotti found out she was pregnant with Ferreira’s child but had no way of getting hold of him.
11 months later they managed to make contact with each other “I couldn’t believe it and felt so sad that I had missed all of that, including the birth of my baby and that Ornella had to go through that alone.”
“There was to be a life changing moment of clarity that would cross our paths and the journey would take another turn.”
Three and a half years have passed since then and the couple have time to rebuild their beautiful loving relationship. Ferreira also believed that now was the perfect time to propose… live on air!
