They are through the regional finals and hope to make it through to the global round of competition. They are calling on all South Africans to vote for them and help them put SA’s student innovation and entrepreneurship on the world map!

The SA Startup Awards aims to bring together talented entrepreneurs, investors, and other thought leaders in the world of technology and to celebrate high caliber founders who not only drive their businesses with passion and energy, but also take responsibility for the focused execution of their ideas.

Sxuirrel won the award for Best Student Startup at the South African finals held on 24 October 2018, which means that they are now through to the regional round of the competition which will determine the category winners for the entire Southern African region. National winners from 15 African countries will be considered with the final regional winners moving on to the global leg of the competition.

“Sxuirrel is a revolutionary app-based storage solution. Completely unique to the South African market, Sxuirrel helps connect those with space to offer and those who need it through a simple-to-use app. Sxuirrel is a peer-to-peer market place that brings together hosts and guests from within a community, to create local, unique and flexible storage solutions. Sxuirrel’s offering comprises three key space elements: storage space, parking space – and soon to be added eventing space.

The Sxuirrel app enables anyone with space available for hire to connect with those who need it. If you have extra space in your home or garage, you can register on the app and list your space for a fee. Those with something to store will find your listing when searching for storage space in their area. The same goes with parking and the events venue section.”

14 Winners in 14 individual categories, as well as a People’s Favourite, will be announced at the Southern Africa Startup Awards Regional grand finale taking place on 22 November 2018 at Steyn City Equestrian Estate, Johannesburg.

The winners will be chosen by a panel of regional judges but an all-important public vote will play a role. “Voting is now open, and the Sxuirrel team is appealing to all South Africans to support us. We are proudly representing our country and the ingenuity and dedication of all young entrepreneurs,” says Michael-john Dippenaar, Sxuirrel’s Chief Executive.
