Western Cape Finance MEC Ivan Meyer says the province has the best performing provincial government for the fourth year in a row.
The Western Cape has been officially confirmed as the country’s top province in the 2015/16 provincial and local audit outcomes.
The province has again achieved 100% unqualified audits, for the fourth year running. These outcomes affirm the province’s position as a leader in clean governance, and service delivery.
Clean audits have been awarded to 23 out of 30 municipalities within the province by the Auditor- General.
This is the fourth year that the Cape had been recognised as the best performing provincial government, says Finance MEC Ivan Meyer.
Meyer adds that municipalities such as Oudtshoorn and Kannaland are among those categorised as problem areas.
“Firstly, it means that taxpayers’ money is well spent. Secondly, it means no fraud or corruption. Thirdly, it means service delivery is prioritised through budgeting and implementation and finally, it creates investor and business confidence to create jobs in every town in the Western Cape,” said Meyer
