Johannesburg, South Africa (29 May 2020) – In times of tragedy, always look for the helpers… they are the heroes we need to be celebrating, and both JB Media and Yooh Media, have taken up the task of helping small businesses who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19… by offering them free advertising space on their digital billboards.

Yooh Media is a niche out of home media solutions company based in Johannesburg. They are well known for their digital billboards dotted around the city, offering the most time-sensitive & flexible form of outdoor advertising.

While most people are trying to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19, small businesses that rely on daily customers are struggling. Analysts expect the shutdown to result in massive job losses and business closures, with the ILO increasing its job loss forecasts to nearly 200 million worldwide.

A month ago Good Things Guy featured Yooh Media and JB Media’s “We are here to help!” campaign which launched on 29 April 2020.

They were the first billboard media company in South Africa to offer free advertising space to small businesses on their digital billboards. The campaign has been a huge success and now other outdoor media companies are starting to follow suit.

Yooh Media and JB Media have already assisted over 60 small business with advertising to a value of R500,000. After an overwhelming response, the application process had to be suspended, but now Yooh and JB have launched Phase 2 where they have now committed to assisting a further 60 small businesses, taking the total investment in small businesses to over R1 million in less than 2 months!

Locally, the SARB expected over 1,600 small businesses going insolvent and around 370,000 jobs lost in the formal sector in the first two weeks of lockdown, alone.

The remarkable offer was posted to their social media, and then Yooh Media opened the opportunity to our Good Things Guy readers too.

“Free advertising for small local businesses: Are you a small local business? Has your business been negatively impacted by COVID-19?

We are here to help!!

We are offering you FREE advertising space on our impactful digital billboards targeting some of our country’s busiest roads.

We want to help our small neighbourhood businesses (Sandton, Bryanston, Fourways and surrounding areas) get back on their feet as quickly as possible!!

At times it can feel like we’re going through this alone, but we are not. We are all in this together – separated in our houses – but all together, and that’s how we get through this… together!

The next couple of weeks are going to be really, really tough. I think we’re all going to have to be more thoughtful of each other, practice more kindness and love each other a little louder.

Wishing you only good things!
