Early this morning, a cosmic smile is said to have beamed down at the Earth thanks to a space show put on by the moon, Saturn and Venus. Did you catch it?
Global (25 April 2025) — This morning was an extra-special one for some lucky members of the 5am club thanks to what appeared to be a cosmic smile beaming down at Earth’s early risers.
The cosmic smile (or more accurately, a ‘massing’ of the crescent moon, Saturn and Venus) was a hot topic for sky-gazers across the world this week for obvious reasons—who wouldn’t be excited to see the morning sky smiling down at them?
However, different parts of the world who gazed Eastward (or still will) would’ve seen the smile differently. Some might’ve seen the smile appearing to be on its side or tilted, and some might’ve missed one of the ‘eyes’ of the smile due to Saturn’s faintness and Venus taking the spotlight.
But, if you were lucky enough to catch the glimpse of the space show, just know you saw something spectacular.
According to Space.com, “you will have seen a celestial arrangement that is uniquely visible from Earth, and which cannot be seen from any other spot in the universe.”
This follows other thrilling sights from space this month, including shooting stars (Earth passed through a stream of comet dust). There will still be a few more marvels to enjoy for the curious sky-gazer, including a visible Mars!
