After an astonishing and truly devastating 912-day disappearance, a beloved cat named Felix has finally been reunited with his family, bringing tears of joy and an end to a tireless search!

Oudtshoorn, South Africa (20 June 2025) – On 20 December 2022, a gorgeous feline boy, Felix, had been playing with his sister in their family garden before he just disappeared, out of nowhere, without a trace and much to his family’s anguish.

His family searched, prayed, and put out posts, but it seemed like Felix had just vanished into thin air!

The days turned into months, and the months into years, yet still no sign of Felix. Not until earlier this month, when the Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need (ODIN) was informed about a cat that had been hanging around the offices of the Pacaltsdorp Police station and was being fed by a kind lady.

Desperate to find Felix a home, ODIN shared a post about the loving and sweet cat, reaching out to anyone who could help.

10 days after the post, the most unexpected but BEST thing happened!

“We hoped that someone would adopt him, but even better – his owner called us and after taking him to the vet to be scanned, the microchip confirmed that he was indeed their Felix,” ODIN said.

After 912 days of missing, Felix had finally been reunited with his family, who we don’t doubt were over the moon to have found him.

While it is unknown whether the cat was stolen or lost his way or what he’d been up to for all those days, ODIN gave him props for walking over to the police station and eventually finding help!

“His family and his beautiful sister are all overjoyed to have him back, and again, a valuable lesson about the importance of microchipping your cats!”

We’re so glad you found your way back home, Felix boy.
