The Two Oceans Aquarium is hosting a trash bash to tidy up Monwabisi Beach in Cape Town; this is one of many events taking place this weekend on International Coastal Cleanup Day.

Cape Town, South Africa (16 September 2022) – The Two Oceans Aquarium is hosting a trash bash event at Monwabisi Beach in Cape Town in honour of International Coastal Cleanup Day. They are inviting the public to join in on the fun and celebrate the day.

“Join us to make a Trash Bash difference! Plastic pollution is a huge problem, negatively affecting marine life, and we’d love to spend the morning with you making an impact.”

A trash bash is a fun name for a beach cleanup.

“Apart from being good for the environment, cleanups are also good for us humans. Anyone who has spent time with us, taking part in a cleanup, knows that it’s actually a chance to have a ball, to spend time with friends and family, to breathe in some fresh air, and to leave a slightly better, slightly more informed person.”

International Coastal Cleanup Day takes place every year at the end of “National Clean-Up and Recycle Week” and is celebrated by coastal towns throughout South Africa. You can find the Two Oceans Aquarium event details below, but if you are located in a different area, check your community pages to see which events you can join.
