When his beloved Bruno was struck by a car, Craig dropped everything, carefully placed him in a trolley and rushed the dog to the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, where his tears of pain were soon turned into those of pure joy.

Cape Town, South Africa (13 November 2025) – Nothing could have prepared Craig for the moment his cherished and loyal furry companion, Bruno, was struck by a car in Parkwood.

Though shaken and in tears, Craig immediately placed his beloved dog carefully in a trolley and made his way to the Cape of Good Hope SPCA – desperate to get Bruno the help he needed.

There, the SPCA team welcomed Bruno with gentle hands and compassionate hearts.

“They cleaned his wounds, eased his pain, and gave him the care he needed to heal – because every life, no matter where it comes from, deserves kindness and hope,” Cape of Good Hope SPCA said.

Thankfully, Bruno received the treatment he needed to recover at SPCA’s Animal Hospital.

Staffed by three vets and a team of animal welfare assistants and orderlies, the Animal Hospital, based in Cape Town, provides excellent medical treatment for sick and injured animals. Many of these are animals brought to the SPCA by Inspectors or by owners like Craig, who are unable to afford a private vet.

Craig may not have much, but what he does have is love. The kind of love that moves mountains, or in this case, carries a best friend to safety. When the moment finally came for Craig to take his boy home, his tears of pain turned into tears of pure joy!

“His tears told the story of a bond that nothing could break.”

In a video, an emotional Craig poured his heart out to the SPCA for caring for his dog, which he considers his baby.

The animal welfare society credited the public’s support for making such moments possible. Where love finds a way, compassion steps in and lives are changed forever!
