The Honorary Rangers helped with the maintenance of the Camps Bay Track, rebuilding the footpath for those using the mountain.
Camps Bay, South Africa (21 May 2024) — The Table Mountain Region SANPark Honorary Rangers lent a helping hand to keep the Camps Bay Track maintained and ready for hikers. They rebuilt a footpath, creating a smooth track.
The footbridge along the hiking trail at Camps Bay Pipe Track in the northern section of Table Mountain National Park has been maintained.
“The park management would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the SANParks Honorary Rangers – Table Mountain Region for their steadfast support in preserving and maintaining the park.”
The Table Mountain National Park team has been working tirelessly to keep the area well-maintained and free of dangers for both wildlife and park visitors.
Earlier this week, the team saved a Caracal from a snare.
“The park is home to various mammal species, and the animals most often caught in snares are Caracal, Porcupine, Mongoose, and Grysbok. Poachers typically use snares to capture wildlife for bushmeat or medicinal purposes. Killing of these animals has an impact on conservation efforts.
SANParks urges dog walkers to keep on the demarcated trails to avoid unintentional harm to their pets due to snares. Also, if you come across a snare, please remove it immediately or notify park rangers.
Park users can report any suspicious activity or snares to TMNP’s emergency number at 086 110 6417. Let’s all work together to prevent this animal cruelty and protect our unique biodiversity.”
Having extra hands and eyes in the park really makes a massive difference in saving the environment, the wildlife and the beauties that we all go there to enjoy.
