tyre rainfall flooding

In case of flooding, the City of Cape Town has set up a plan to assist any residents in need. These are some tips to assist with any emergency.

Water-restricted Cape Town is welcoming more rainfall this week. There are predictions of even heavier showers later in the day and the days to follow this week.

The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Centre warned of heavy rains due to a cold front.

The impact of heavy rainfall could lead to localised flooding of informal settlements, roads and low lying areas and bridges.

To be prepared in the event of an emergency here are some tips that might be useful.

  • Drive slowly and with caution.
  • Check that your wheels and windscreen wipers are in working order.
  • Avoid driving through areas where flooding has occurred.
  • Keep all emergency numbers on hand just in case. (See below)

City of Cape Town Services will be on standby to deal with any emergencies that arise from weather conditions. Members of the public are asked to contact 107 from a landline or 021 480 7700 from a cell phone to report any incidents.
