Whether you have been cuddled up on the couch together, cooking meals in the kitchen or having long talks in the night, the SPCA wants to see the love of your lockdown, your beloved pet!

Cape Town, South Africa (29 April 2020) – Try #theLoveLockdown photography challenge and discover your inner “Annie Leibovitz” along with Kyknet Bravo Presenter and animal lover Ewan Strydom who is even more thankful for his furry family members during #lockdownSA.

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA knows there’s no locking down love! Whether your pet has become your best cuddle buddy, your favourite co-worker, your meditation inspiration, your yoga partner, your scary movie binge-watching sidekick, your DIY right hand (wo)man or your artistic muse.

Show them how lockdown has strengthened your bond by uploading a photo of you and your furry friend. Your pets could win an amazing prize. The more creative the better – cue Vogue, Van Gogh and Warhol styled sets – ready, snap, go!

Ewan feels very strongly about this saying, “Your pups, kittens, pet fish, hamsters budgies or guinea pigs are part of your family, and it’s our responsibility to look after them, and MOST importantly, LOVE them! Our pets rely on our protection and care, and should be treated and seen as part of your family. We are living in a stressful time, mostly being cooped up at home with frustration levels on the rise.

But amidst the stress and uncertainty, we have a responsibility to treat those animals which don’t have a voice with LOVE! Treasure them! It’s so sad to hear about pets being abandoned during this lockdown period, that is UNACCEPTABLE. The COGH SPCA is doing their utmost to step in, but they NEED your help! And all you have to do is spread the love is enter #TheLoveLockdown.”

What do you and your beloved pet win?

  • The winning photo will be featured on the cover of the SPCA Footprints deluxe edition magazine.
  • Ultra Dog is donating a 6 months supply of food.
  • Seresto will be donating a cash prize of R650 to the winner of the competition.
  • Mr. Miyagee – SA’s smallest celebrity pet- has sponsored a Numatic Harry Pet Vacuum worth R3000.00 to one lucky winner.

So show them your best Love Lockdown and your fundraising efforts will help the Cape of Good Hope SPCA continue to care for thousands of stray and surrendered animals which will seek refuge at our organisation during the lockdown.

#TheLoveLockdown runs until 10th May so enter today https://capespca.co.za/thelovelockdown/ and WIN!
