Cape Town was blessed with some rainfall, thunder and lightning. The beautiful rain was captured by photographers and the images are a must see!

The Mother City had a moment of relief when the rain started to fall, along with it came thunder and lighting. Social media was flooded with ‘pluviophiles’ rejoicing the beautiful rain.

“Pluviophile: (n) a lover of rain; someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days”

Residents need to remember to continue following the water restrictions currently in place. While the rain was a blessing it has not solved the serious drought problem.

The light rain is predicted to stick around throughout the morning but will most likely clear up around midday.

Share your photos with us and tell us what did you do/feel when you saw the rain? While we are located in Joburg we felt very happy for all our readers living in the Cape.

We have compiled a collection of stunning images taken during the rains.
