When you go to the beach you want to see dolphins, whales, sharks and seals; what you don’t want to see is a giant crocodile catching a few waves.

St Lucia, South Africa (03 February 2021) – We all deserve a good holiday once in a while. Whether that be a trip to our favourite city, time spent poolside or a relaxing beach holiday. And if we can have these luxuries, why not our wild friends?

It certainly appears that the wild world is taking over after reports of a hippo in Fourways and a crocodile in a swimming pool in the North West, can we really be shocked about a crocodile at the beach?

The thing is, it could very well be all these heavy rains. We are not experts, but these big, wild animals may have ended up where they are because rivers are flowing.

Annelies Masschelein was on the beach in St Lucia when a sight caught her eyes. The area has a big, beautiful estuary that feeds into the ocean, so it is not uncommon to see hippo walking around, but a huge Nile crocodile at the beach is a very interesting sighting indeed.

Annelies filmed the crocodile from afar for safety, but she said, living in an area that has an abundance of hippo and crocodiles, she has never seen anything like this.

Take a look at her incredible sighting below. Please note the video was filmed on a very windy day, so the sound is quite loud.
