Funda Nenja’s Dog Food Discount Programme helps remove a large financial strain of buying dog food while encouraging animal responsibility in pet owners.

Mpophomeni, South Africa (21 February 2025) – Animal welfare is the very reason Funda Nenja exists and runs various educational and outreach programmes that inspire and encourage Mpophomeni community members to value their dogs.

One way they do this is through the Funda Nenja Dog Food Discount Programme which helps dog owners receive pet food at a lowered price by following a simple process that ensures they’re doing their part in being responsible owners.

To qualify to purchase a bag of discounted dog food, an owner has to first present their dog for a veterinary check-up at Funda Nenja’s clinic.

Dr Danie runs the busy Friday afternoon veterinary clinic with quiet, calm efficiency assisted by the dog school team. This pop-up clinic is a vital resource for the Mpophomeni community, seeing 20 to 40 dogs in just two hours.

After the check-up, the owner must then commit to taking advantage of the organisation’s free sterilisation service within three months.

Each family is eligible for one bag of discounted food per month and must present their record card at each purchase to track their purchases.

Funda Nenja follows a policy of encouraging responsible dog ownership, which includes a small charge for all items on offer at its pop-up shop where possible.

So, while times may be tough for many of us feeling the financial pinch, Funda Nenja is doing its part to look out for its community by providing nourishing pet food at a fraction of the price while ensuring pet owners prioritise their furry companions’ overall well-being!
