The Garden Route

Gosse Bouma, a filmmaker from Amsterdam, fell in love with South Africa and made a handful of breathtaking videos! Here is the beautiful Garden Route.

Gosse Bouma spent some of his studies in South Africa, he studied at the University of Stellenbosch for a while. It was during that time that his love of South Africa was born. He and his partner traveled around South Africa and Namibia and captured some beautiful footage.

Their most recent video was of the Garden Route. The way that Gosse captured the footage as well as how it was edited, almost gives the Garden Route a dark and haunted feel! Obviously that isn’t how the area is at all! Watching the video seems to bring out a darker beauty, something I am sure many South Africans have never seen before!

We ventured from Cape Town to Knysna. With the sand of Wilderness beach between my toes and the tranquility of Tsitsikamma National Park still in my head, I think back of a wonderful adventure on The Garden Route. Let me take you along on our journey.

Gosse shot with a DJI Osmo X3 and a DJI Mavico Pro. The footage as you will see is of places we have not seen before, so we did a little digging. The bridge hanging over the ocean is the Storms River Suspension Bridge.

It can be found in the Tsitsikamma National Park and it stretches for 77 meters. The bridge hangs about 7 meters from the ocean below. It is officially on the bucket-list!

“The hike to the bridge is also beautiful. The trail winds through bird-filled forests, past waterfalls and stunning sea views.”
