Muizenberg, South Africa (11 July 2024) — Since most Capetonians are escaping the current weather havoc with daydreams about better beach days, we’re sure eyes will light up at the news that a big beach day is on the cards in Muizenberg later this month when the weather hopefully clears! At the top of the agenda? Being a part of making change with the organisation Waves For Change!

If you’ve ever been excited by the idea of attending a ‘Silent Disco’ session, you’ll be thrilled to know that this beach clean-up won’t be like any other; taking notes from the popular phenomenon in zen fashion.

Participants will be guided through music, movement and connection through headphones they’ll receive, where they can comfortably tackle the clean-up amongst others, while getting to enjoy sounds in the comfort of their own worlds.

Beyond helping Muizenberg beach get into tip-top shape, all proceeds from the family-friendly event will go to Waves For Change.

About Waves For Change

Waves for Change is an organisation dedicated to providing mental health support services to children in under-resourced communities through the power of ‘Surf Therapy’, beginning its story in 2009 as a small, informal weekend surf club for a handful of children from Masiphumele Township in Cape Town. Today, it’s a hub of hope for many youngsters, providing a sense of community, mental health support and a love of the seas.

What is Surf Therapy? It’s a unique blend of benefits that combines the health-related perks of surfing and physical activity with activities that help young people build protective relationships, identify emotions, self-soothe, and build a positive future vision.
