This Love Month, Beanies for Beings is asking you to consider sharing the love with a pair of puppy-dog (or kitten) eyes, hoping for a little Valentine’s magic, too
Johannesburg, South Africa (09 February 2026) – While Beanies for Beings usually goes above and beyond to address the needs of struggling children, families and individuals, this love month they’re extending their impact to furbabies in need. Because the world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog or a cat!
Valentine’s Day is happening next week, and as you think of creative ways to woo or appreciate the special person in your life, Beanies for Beings is kindly asking that you grab a little something for a voiceless soul who could do with a little loving, too.
“We are asking for donations of cat/dog food, bowls, doggie jackets, toys, beds and blankets to gift to shelters and animal organisations. So many innocent animals have been surrendered or left behind after the festive season,” the organisation appeals.
Everyday items like dustbin bags, newspapers, brooms, buckets and disinfectant cleaning materials are also a great need at animal shelters across the board and would be most appreciated.
“Please help us to help those who are caring for these innocent furbabies.”
The due date for collections is 28 February at the following drop-off points:
- Liquorice, Entrance 1 – Randridge Mall
- Wonderland Pre-Primary on 213 Cornelis Street, Fairland
- Beanies for Beaings Charity Shop on 482 Boundary Road, Northriding
Students looking to give back or earn community service hours can do so in these three ways:
- Donating five large tins of cat or dog food = 1 Hour
- Donating 8kg of dry cat /or dog food = 1 Hour
- Donate two NEW blankets = 1 Hour (Preferably the stormy grey blankets from PEP Stores)
“Please mark your donations clearly with your name, school, grade and email address for us to send you an email confirmation of your hours earned.”
