Rockhopper penguins are very relaxed, and Grommet from the Two Oceans Aquarium has everyone smiling at his reaction to being in a car.
Cape Town, South Africa (03 June 2022) – Grommet the Rockhopper Penguin needed to go to the doctor, which meant he got to do one of his favourite things, ride in a car!
The Two Oceans Aquarium shared the light-hearted clip on Instagram explaining that Grommet was in need of a few scans that could only be done at the Cape Exotic Animal Hospital.
This isn’t the first time the aquarium shared a video of a Rockhopper in a car. In 2019, they welcomed one from the Eastern Cape SANCCOB that couldn’t wait to see her new home.
The clip has left smiles on many faces, with one fan asking how he could become a Penguin Uber. Another fan asked why Grommet was so relaxed being in a car, and the aquarium shared some pretty cool insight.
“They have very few natural predators or dangers faced on land, so their instinct is to be curious about change, rather than afraid/aggressive. Plus, Grommet is just the chillest penguin ever.” – Two Oceans Aquarium
