A seed of hope was planted at the 10th Happy Earth Festival which saw over 1 600 young minds come together to learn, share, and connect with the environment.

KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (19 August 2024) – The Happy Earth Environmental Education Sustainability Forum hosted its 10th  Happy Earth Festival on 15 and 16 August, bringing to life a harmonious fusion of environmental education and the arts.

The environmental event hosted over 1,600 learners from 35 schools from Pietermaritzburg in KZN, at the KZN Botanical Gardens.

The Happy Earth Festival is an annual gathering that brings together students from Pietermaritzburg and the surrounding Midlands to foster a deeper connection with nature. The event combines learning, knowledge-sharing, and hands-on activities to inspire environmental stewardship.

The 10th edition of the Happy Earth Festival, blending environmental education with the arts, concluded with a captivating showcase of talent. Students and professional performers delighted the audience with a dynamic mix of poetry, dance, and song.

According to the KwaZulu-Natal Museum, the final act of the two-day event day saw all stakeholders come together for a symbolic planting of a Rapanea Melaophiloes tree (Cape Beech), to mark 10 years of Happy Earth Environmental Education Sustainability Forum promoting environmental consciousness and connecting kids to nature.

The forum extended its heartfelt thanks to all participating organisations and people who helped with preparations and making the day an outstanding success with Mother Nature in mind.
