Hermanus

The Hermanus Whale Festival took place over the weekend and visitors captured stunning footage of the whales in the bay. Take a look…

The Hermanus Whale Festival is a long-standing tradition in the Western Cape. Every year thousands of people flock to the seaside town to witness the beauty of the whales. The festival takes place to mark the return of the Southern Right whales to the waters of Walker Bay.

Hermanus has been rated by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as one of the top 12 best places in the world to go whale watching. Visitors can spot Southern Right Whales, Humpback Whales, Bryde’s Whales and even Orcas on rare occasions.

Social media has been filled with beautiful pictures of the mammals having a ‘whale of a time’. These are some of the stunning ones we found and thought you might enjoy as well.
