Devastated predator park owner who discovered his lions and tiger had been poisoned, is working on picking up the pieces again.
It was a story that shocked everyone who saw it.
Just a little over a month ago, the Jugomaro Predator Park owner was distraught to discover four of his beloved big cats were poisoned in the early hours of a Friday morning.
The Jugomaro Predator Park is nestled on a 453 hectare game reserve in a valley abounding with orange plantations and vineyards, between Groblersdaal and Marble Hall, Limpopo. The park was first established in 2008 by a motor mechanic named Goosey Fernandes who dreamed of creating a safe refuge for wild animals.
One of the zoo’s most famous animals is a tiger named Panjo whose disappearance during transport fuelled a media frenzy. He was lost for 2 days and 3 nights in July 2010 and was eventually found in a black wattle plantation in Verena, 70kms from the reserve.
Justin Fernandes posted an emotional video on his personal Facebook page that tragic morning showing how he discovered three lions and a tiger had been poisoned. Describing it as the worst nightmare of his life, Justin wasn’t sure how he would move forward after that night.
But he has!
Justin joins The Good Things Guy to chat about how the park is picking up the pieces from here. Listen to the show by clicking the link below:
