The golden retriever puppy has become his eyes and helps him find his way around, and the two have become the best of friends!

United Kingdom (16 October 2020) – Tao, a 12-year-old golden retriever was diagnosed with glaucoma and lost his vision in 2019, so Melanie Jackson decided to get him a little guide dog to help him navigate around.

And their Instagram could be the cutest thing you see today.

“Euthanasia was never an option. He’s part of our family, and we have done the best we can for him. He is truly amazing and has learnt to deal with his sight loss so quickly. He has given me a new appreciation of blindness issues, and when people meet him, they don’t always realise he’s blind. In fact, when we are out walking some people think he’s my guide dog because he has a sleeve on his lead saying ‘Blind K9’. Tao just gets on with things, and nothing seems to worry him. He trusts his ‘mum’ completely and is easy to train.”

Tao was trained with commands so that he could slowly adapt to losing his eyesight before having the big operation, but Jackson also decided to get him a little companion and introduced the eight-week-old Oko to him.

The golden retriever puppy has since become his eyes and helps him find his way around, and the two have become the best of friends!
