Elephant mom saves calf

Heartwarming moment an Elephant reaches down with her trunk to pull her baby to safety after it became trapped in a watering hole has been captured on video.

Elephants are well known for their strong family bonds and protective parenting skills, not to mention powerful females. All those seemed to be on display in a brief, dramatic video that recently went viral.

In this tense video posted by Kruger Sightings, a mother elephant saves her calf stuck in a waterhole. The heart racing scene took place at the Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa.

“What’s also amazing is that it’s not only the (presumed) calf’s mother that is helping, but when others in the herd hear the distressed call of the calf, they come running too to see if help is needed. Other videos showing how elephants will work together, as a pack, to protect their young and weak can be found as well. Amazing animals.”
