Paramedics have rescued a distressed dog underneath a prefabricated classroom at a school in Edenpark south of Johannesburg on Thursday.

The ER24 medical services were notified after the community had failed to try get the dog out from underneath the house.

“When ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene, they found the dog cowering deep beneath one of the classrooms,” ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.

Meiring said members of the public alerted ER24 to the incident after they found the dog lying underneath the classroom.

“Paramedics were informed that the animal had been beneath the building for at least three days. One of the ER24 paramedics was able to crawl beneath the building and slowly coax the animal out.”

Meiring said that once the dog was brought to safety, paramedics assessed and treated her before she was handed over to Kibler Park Vet for further treatment.
