Bet you never thought a spade could outdress you and your festival outfit, huh? Greenpop’s Reforest Fest recently gathered tons of tree lovers and planters who dressed up their spades as they got their hands dirty for a better planet!

Western Cape (14 April, 2023) — The spades were the stars of the show at Greenpop’s recent Reforest Fest, where tree planters unite and thousands of new trees take ground. The annual tree-planting festival is known for its immaculate vibes, but this year it also earned its place as the most adorable tree-planting session thanks to the well-dressed spades.

For the first time ever, Greenpop encouraged participants to unleash their creativity and make their spades the main characters.

“Besides a whole lotta gees, one thing we all need for tree planting is a spade!” —Greenpop.

The competition brought out Project Runway-approved creativity, with locals understanding the assignment in full.

From sunflower-dressed spades to spades dressed in rich purple bows that’d give any pageant darling strong competition, the event was filled with an extra dose of creative-care.

Beyond the iconic spades, the festival was a wonderful success as per usual.

For over a decade, Greenpop’s biggest tree-planting event of the year has given indigenous trees new life and new homes with the goal to restore degraded forest patches in the Western Cape.

To date, over 100 000 trees have been planted through the project which helps secure the home of some endangered species like the Cape leopard and honey badger.

If you’re an avid lover of trees, keep an eye on Greenpop’s socials to stay up-to-date with other events and opportunities to pave the way to treedom.

Plus, if you want to learn more about why planting trees matters as much as it does, or if you’re keen to investigate how to do it properly (it’s not as simple as digging a hole in the ground and hoping for the best), here’s all you need to know.
