Moby’s in Plett has started a beach clean-up campaign to help rid the beaches in the area of litter. The restaurant is offering a free cup of coffee to anyone that brings in a bucket filled with litter from the beach.

Plettenberg Bay is a popular holiday spot in the Western Cape. The area is known for its beauty and warmer waters. Litter is a problem at any beach and Plett is no exception. The beach town often has plastic and other litter scattered along the sand.

One of the local restaurants has decided to incentivise beach-goers to collect litter in a bucket and in return, receive a free cup of coffee. The restaurant is Moby’s which is located a Central Beach. Moby’s has buckets at their reception which can be used to collect litter.

Fans of the restaurant have been really proud and supportive of the new initiative.

SA should lead the world, in common sense, ideas so simple the impact is huge” – Darryl Scott

Nature’s Valley Trust shared the happy news on their Facebook.

“A BIG Nature’s Valley Trust shout out to Dianne Reynolds Visser and the Moby Dicks Restaurant in Plett – this is a SERIOUSLY cool initiative and we are super excited to see beach-front restaurants starting to work towards solving the problem of litter on our beaches. Together we can do more!”

You can find out more about the restaurant on their website. Next time you find yourself in Plett, pop in and support this incredible initiative. Well done Moby’s!
