Snowing Systems Snow Frosted Cold Front Chill

Weather warnings and actual snow; The South Africa Weather Service issued a snow warning for parts of the country, and already pictures are being shared.

 

South Africa (15 June 2022) – It is getting cold in here! Winter is well on the way and with the official first day of winter happening next week (hello winter solstice, 21 June 2022), it is no surprise that it really is beginning to feel like our least favourite season. Just kidding, we love all the seasons!

According to the South Africa Weather Services, snow was predicted on the high laying areas of the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Free State. Well, the snow did make an apperance in the Eastern Cape and along the Drakensberg, and into Lesotho.

Afriski Mountain Resort located in Lesotho shared images of the snow on the Facebook page, showing heavy snowfall on the pass while the town itself is surrounded by a lighter dusting.

It may stop snowing now but it will probably snow a few more times as we hit the serious lows of winter weather. Vox Weather shared a look at how the snow was set to hit South Africa, take a look below.
