Because SNOW news is good news!
The cold front has brought with it bouts of snow in various parts of South Africa and SnowReport SA have been sharing the impressive pics of the snowfall.
Winter has hit hard as bitterly cold temperatures are being felt across the country with large parts of South Africa expecting the mercury to plummet even more over the next few days, according to the South African Weather Service.
And with the cold snap, our first snowfall of the season has also arrived!
There is a widely held belief by many that it never snows in Africa. But that is not true! The first (digitally recorded) snowfall dates back to 1853 and in some years the snow has been seen as early as April.
The first snow of the season started falling yesterday at the top of Sani Pass and has been steadily building up to a beautiful white landscape overnight.
“The snow is still falling and building up nicely. We expect it to continue through the night. We will be up at sunrise to send you images of the winter wonderland that awaits. Keep warm and be safe.”
