Justin Hawthorne captured the moment snow fell over Table Mountain this past weekend during the ‘Big Freeze’, it is a stunning sight!
Justin Hawthorne happened to be on Table Mountain the moment a snow flurry started. A snow flurry is a “brief instance of snow with thin, single flaked showers.”
Justin is a qualified Adventure Tourist Guide, he is also a a volunteer mountain hiking guide for the Table Mountain National Park. He happened to be in the right place at the right time to capture the video of the large snowflakes floating down the mountain side.
Snow Report SA shared Justin’s video on their Facebook page and quickly people started sharing it and liking the post. Within a few hours it has already received over 300 views. People cannot believe that it was actually snowing on the mountain.
The snowfall has hit all over South Africa, we shared all the beautiful pictures being taken of the snow in a roundup post. As discussed in our previous post the Minister of Environmental Affairs, Edna Molewa, has appealed to South Africans to keep warm as a cold weather pattern unfolds in the coming days.
“In light of the severe weather warning for the coming days, I would like to appeal to all those people living in low-lying areas of the Western Cape to prepare for possible flooding, and to all other citizens to unpack their jerseys and blankets to keep warm,” said Minister Molewa.
