Roger and Pat de la Harpe filmed a video of a river flowing through KwaZulu-Natal to highlight the importance of making every drop of water count!
Roger and Pat de la Harpe are freelance photographers and writers based in South Africa, they share a passion for conservation, natural history, wild places and indigenous cultures.
Over the years the couple have published 27 coffee table books, most of which celebrate nature and the environment.
They teamed up with their friend and film maker, Louis Bolton to create this short movie about the Karkloof River and it’s journey through KwaZulu-Natal.
Water is one of the most precious commodities on earth.
We filmed this video in the Karkloof Mountains in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. They are amongst the most beautiful in the country and are a very important water catchment. Rain falling on these mist belt mountains quickly form small streams, ending up in the Karkloof River in the valley below. Just a few kilometres away the languid waters tumble down the picturesque Woodhouse Falls and a short while later form the stunningly beautiful Karkloof Falls.
The Karkloof River eventually links with the Umgeni River that supplies water to just over 4 000 000 people living in the greater Durban and Pietermaritzburg areas – quite a responsibility for a drop of rain falling in the Karkloof! – Roger and Pat de la Harpe
This video is probably one of the most relaxing things you will watch today! We hope you enjoy it on this lovely long weekend!
