NASA TV is airing the total solar eclipse live from Union Glacier, Antarctica.

Global (04 December 2021) – A total solar eclipse is now currently underway on Saturday, the 4th of December 2021 and this footage is coming to you live from Union Glacier, Antarctica.

Watch it here:

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon’s apparent diameter is larger than the Sun’s, blocking all direct sunlight, turning day into darkness. Totality occurs in a narrow path across Earth’s surface, with the partial solar eclipse visible over a surrounding region thousands of kilometres wide.

This eclipse will be unusual as the path of the total eclipse will move from east to west across West Antarctica, while most eclipse paths move from west to east. This reversal is only possible in polar regions. Its path across Antarctica will cross near Berkner Island, traverse an arc over the continent, exit, and pass over Shepard Island.
