There’s nothing quite like a South African Wildflower Season where gorgeous bursts of blooms take centre stage and remind us that spring is not too far away! In very good news for those who love nothing more than being in awe of nature, Wildflower Season is here!
South Africa (06 August 2024) — Something special happens across parts of South Africa every year as we reach the end of winter’s reign. When August comes around so do bursts of gorgeous wildflowers and a hint of spring not being quite so far away.
Like Whale Season (which has welcomed very rare sightings this year!), Wildflower season is one of Mother Nature’s finest occasions that leaves the Western Cape with mouths agape. But, it’s not the only province where the superblooms can be enjoyed; spots like Namaqua National Park are famous for its wildflower season too.
In very good news for those who love nothing more than being in awe of nature showing off, Wildflower Season is here!
As SANParks shares, Namaqua National Park has seen an improvement in their flowers, with some starting to bloom on the circular route of the park. Bursts of daisies and bokbaaivygies are said to be in abundance, with Pietsnot, Glansogiegousblom and Namakwasambreeltjie amongst others are beginning to pop up.

Off in the West Coast National Park, wildflower season has officially begun and will be in full swing until 30 September. The Postberg section of the park is open to everyone where Cape flora can be enjoyed without interruption.

Sit Back and Smell the Wildflowers.
