Winter is coming, in fact, it is almost here! This weekend a chill will set over South Africa as we hit our first real lows and the snow drifts down.
South Africa (29 April 2021) – It is the time of year again that we prepare for the onset of winter and get ready for that very first chill. Well, get ready because it starts tomorrow!
We know that this was also the prediction for last week but this week it is highly likely. That is according to reporting from the South African Weather Service.
⚠️First cold spell of the season expected this week into the weekend over southern, central and Eastern South Africa. Widespread showers expected over the Eastern Cape and KZN from tomorrow (29 April) into Friday. Light snowfall possible in the Drakensberg regions of EC and KZN. pic.twitter.com/EUKgx8QZFf

One massive good thing about the drop in temperatures is that the Eastern Cape, currently struggling with drought, can expect a bit of rainfall. Just in case, do that rain dance to ensure it really happens.
Another thing to expect this weekend is snow. Snow will most likely fall in parts of South Africa’s higher laying regions such as the Drakensberg and neighbouring Lesotho.
Snow Report is also reporting on the strong possibility of snowfall, at around 15cm, so if you find yourself in a flurry, be sure to share your images with us.
