This is the amazing moment a blind cat scales Ireland’s highest mountain – and helps countless other animals in distress.

Stevie the Calico Moggie made the amazing feat alongside owner Patrick Corr last month. Not only did they reach the peak after a gruelling 3,400ft Kerry trek, they also managed to raise €1,300 for other animals at risk through a Gofundme page.

Patrick, 29, gave poor Stevie – named after legendary singer Stevie Wonder – a home over four years ago after an infection left her completely blind. And her grit and determination has amazed him ever since.

The Clonmel, Co Tipperary videographer, who completed the climb with twin brother Eoghan, said: “The climb took about six hours, we took a lot of breaks.

“We had a cat carrier that we ordered; it was a very rocky climb and it would have hurt her paws, so we put her in the carrier for part of it.

“Her tenacity is so inspirational, when she was in a bit of discomfort she would tell you and then when she’s OK she’d tell you and go back down to keep walking.”

Patrick got Stevie from the “Cork Animal Care Society” after she was treated in a cat hospital. And the fundraising drive for two special organisations is continuing. All the money raised so far has been split between the care society and the Tipperary Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
