In a clever “Whodunit”, Waitrose launched a two-part Christmas advert to help solve the mystery of who stole the Christmas pudding.

Global, South Africa (20 November 2024) – Who doesn’t love a good mystery? And let’s be real; when the family gets together during the festive season, if there is Christmas pudding in the fridge, you can bet before it gets served that someone has dipped a finger in it to “test” that it’s ok to serve. Nine times out of ten, its not a mystery as to who swiped the pud, we all have that one cheeky family member.

Waitrose, a UK-based food store, recently released its Christmas Advert and their take this year is on that sneaky family dynamic of missing puddings.

The advert is one of two, the first part of which focuses on the investigation. The Brits are popular for their “whodunit” series, so the ad fits perfectly into British culture.

We assume the Christmas pudding thief will be revealed in part two, which has not yet been released. The advert is filled with familiar faces, including: Matthew Macfadyen of “Succession”, comedian Joe Wilkinson from “Afterlife”, Rakhee Thakrar of “Sex Education”, Sian Clifford from “Fleabag”, Dustin Demri-Burns of “Slow Horses” and Eryl Maynard of “Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple”

Take a look at the funny advert below. Who do you reckon did it?

If it was your family, who would it be? (Not pointing any fingers at you, dad!) And what would the family dessert be? (Granny’s cream topped pavlova with tinned nectarines).
