Pictures are going viral of speed cameras that have been covered up by a Johannesburg ‘Traffic Santa’ for Christmas… and it seems South Africans couldn’t be happier.

Natasha Stevenson shared the photos of the cameras being covered up on Christmas day which is rapidly being shared on social media.

“So the people of the south have a sense of humor. I could not stop laughing… this is near iland garage.”

The speed limit is apparently 40km in that zone with South African drivers collectively saying that it is just too slow. We do not condone bad driving or breaking the law but drivers in the South of Johannesburg and on social media in general are loving the little Christmas gift left by an anonymous “traffic santa”.

Social media users have been sharing the post far and wide adding their voices to the conversation.

S’pesihle Vilakazi posted: “If you live in the south you probably know this speed camera. How I wish to just drive at 60khm past this as is now…. Hahahaaaaaa.”

Andrew Smotter added: “Not to be opened until next Christmas!”

Vincent Gobey: “We call that regifting… lol… from you to us JMPD and right back to you, Merry Christmas”

Sarah Fuller: “I hate that camera, its the worst and seems to always catch me… even just 5km over. Couldn’t be happier that it’s been covered for Christmas. Can someone find our traffic santa and give that man a bells.”
