Clare Townsend and her dare devil sister braved the edge of Devil Pools, showing us the beauty of Zambia and their proudly South African spirit.
The twins were staying at Tongabezi Lodge in Zambia, at the edge of the Victoria Falls. They took a short boat ride to Livingstone Island. They met up with a guide who helped them swim against the current to the point at the falls that are safe.
“Incredibly, the formation of the rock creates a calm and tranquil rock-pool amidst a torrent of fast flowing rapids. There is no man-made barrier to protect you from the cascading precipice, just rocks perfectly placed by nature herself to create what must be the best infinity pool in the world, with a view through thundering smoke and rainbows, all the way to the edge of Zimbabwe.”
Clare and her sister changed into their bikini’s before taking on the dare devil task of swimming to the edge of Devil’s Pool. That’s when we saw the proudly South African bikini. For safety reasons the swim must always be done with a trained guide.
“Our guide professionally ensured that the brief swim (at times against the strength of the current) and small rock scramble to the pool was effected safely and efficiently.”
Clare said that the brief swim they had at the pool was better than any world renowned Spa, that little swam up to them and knibbled at their feet.
“In advanced modern societies this is considered a luxury and such beauty regimes are heralded in the best spas all over the world, but in the Devil’s Pool it’s nature’s luxury and no spa on earth can boast an experience and setting quite like it.”
Clare Townsend often writes about her African adventures, its great to hear and see all the wonders of not only South Africa but also the beauty of the other wonderful African countries.
