Drakensberg Choir

The Drakensberg Choir recently won the title for the “Scenic Pop / Show Choirs” category at the World Choir Games 2018, earning over 95%!

The Drakensberg choir is highly successful and well-loved by South Africans. Recently they took part in the World Choir games and their performance of ABBA’s “Does your mother know?” earned them the “Scenic Pop” title.

This was the first time the choir has ever performed at the World Choir Games and they did really well.

Their Artistic Director, Bernard Krüger led them to victory with his choices in song. The Choir School participated in two categories: Scenic Pop and Children’s Choirs.

Scenic Pop is one of the most popular categories in the competition. It is a favourite for choirs and the audience alike.

As mentioned above, the Drakensberg Boys Choir School were crowned as the Pop Scenic Champions with a score of 95,50%. In the category Children’s Choirs, they received a gold medal and received a score of 89,38%.

The 14th of July is the final day of the competition. We look forward to seeing what other choirs have been up to.
