Sean Williams had to get creative due to the lockdown; this included crafting a set of DIY Eco-Brick dumbells for his wife’s home workout routine.
Johannesburg, South Africa (05 August 2020) – The lockdown has forced us all to get creative and one husband proved just how creative he could get. Sean Williams has been stretching his creativity by using Eco-Bricks.
Sean’s wife has been working out at home as all the gyms are closed under the current lockdown regulations but she missed certain aspects that you just can’t replicate at home. Or at least so she thought.
Not keen to go out and buy dumbells in the weights she needed, Sean became inspired to convert four Eco-Bricks into 5kg dumbells. He fashioned handles out of wood and filled the bottles with plastic waste and sand until he got each to weigh 5kgs.
The addition to their makeshift home gym has been an inspiring one, prompting many to try to make their own. Sean has also started making other Eco-Brick furniture to support the family during the lockdown. You can see some of his pieces here.
Now Sean’s wife can put the couch down (just kidding but hands up if you tried this) and workout in style, with her new, eco-friendly dumbells.
You may be wondering how Sean has been able to fill his Eco-bricks. Well, he has been doing community cleanups in Lonehill, Johannesburg with friend Lovemore Robson. The pair have been picking up rubbish along the main roads in the area.
