Cricket

The Standard Bank sponsored ad is a reminder of the joys of playing Cricket in the streets. It brings a sense of community and is all round feel good!

The advert was directed by Teboho Mahlatsi, an award winning director, who has worked on some of the most moving and thoughtful adverts we have seen on TV. The advert creates a nostalgic look into neighborhood kids working as a team and having fun building and sourcing the tools needed in order to play a good game of cricket.

There has been some good response to the advert,

“Such a wonderful advert. I love it!!!” – Sandra Gaglione

“Amazing advert, love it!! Although that kid with the Bavuma sign on his back cracks me up… No one wants to be Bavuma!” – Worky Workson

Standard bank started sponsoring the Cricket South Africa back in 2016.

“Standard Bank will be the official sponsor of the Proteas for the next four years across all three formats of the game, enjoying the exclusive rights associated with the National Team.”

“We could not have wished for a better 25-year anniversary gift than for Standard Bank to confirm their sponsorship of cricket,” said CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat.

Its a brilliant advert and will make you want to head outside and play a round of cricket with your neighbors or kids. The ad was done in a similar way to the old Standard Bank Day/Night Game advert which was aired on TV’s all over South Africa in 2011.
