Russian artist, Nikita Golubev, inspires the internet with amazing artwork on unwashed cars. These are perfect for the owners of cars in drought stricken South Africa.
Nikita Golubev is an illustrator in Moscow Russia. His most recent project has been going around the internet making people look at dirty unwashed cars a little differently.
Remember when you were younger and you would write “Wash Me” on a dirty window or if you were brave enough something a little more crude? Well now a dirty car is more than an eyesore or shameful thing, it is a canvas!
With the droughts across South Africa washing a car has become the last thing most people are doing so there are many more unwashed cars on the roads.
Various restrictions prevent the washing of cars depending, these are the ones released by the Western Cape Government:
Level 3: Washing (using potable water) of vehicles and boats only is allowed if using a bucket.
Level 3B: No washing of vehicles or boats using municipal drinking water is allowed at residential/business/industrial properties. Vehicles and boats must be washed with non-potable water or washed at a commercial carwash.
They also share a clever tip if you do want to wash your car using grey water.
Use buckets to wash your vehicle. Put a bucket in the shower while you’re waiting for the water to warm up, and use the water you catch to was your vehicle.
This project is so amazing because the artworks lifespan is so fragile, once the piece is completed it drives off and who know’s what happens to it. There is beauty in the unknown!
So if you are feeling a little embarrassed about your unwashed car just remember to look at it as a canvas instead of a flaw!
